Skill Courses


Word Processing (MS Word; Adobe Acrobat)

In addition to “The Basics” course, you can learn advanced techniques in composing, formatting, editing, and posting documents.

Spreadsheets (MS Excel)

In addition to “The Basics” course, you can learn advanced techniques including creating charts from data.

Presentations (MS PowerPoint)

In addition to “The Basics” course, you can learn advanced techniques for customizing layouts and incorporating multimedia into your presentations.

E-Mail (Eudora, Webmail)

In addition to “The Basics” course, you can learn how to better manage and organize your email using filters and mailboxes.

MeetingMaker

MeetingMaker remains ISU’s supported coordinating and scheduling tool.

Website Development (Netscape, Dreamweaver, MS FrontPage)

In addition to “The Basics” courses, we offer many more for advanced skills in developing and managing your website.

Digital Images and Graphics (Photoshop, Illustrator, I-Movie)

In addition to “The Basics” for both Photoshop and Illustrator, these courses provide instruction on advanced skills for manipulating digital images and creating digital illustrations. You can also learn digital video editing basics.

Data and DataBase Management (MS Access, SPSS, Acrobat, Dreamweaver)

Access is ISU’s supported database application. In addition to “The Basics,” you can learn advanced skills such as developing queries and reports. SPSS is a powerful statistics program, and online data collection courses are available.

These courses give annuitants an introduction to computers and some of the resources available on the internet.

Webboard remains ISU’s supported online discussion software, which can be useful for onsite classes and essential for online courses. Email and websites can also be important tools for communicating with students.

WebCT is ISU’s supported and popular software for comprehensive course management
